Blood Moon
What?
Watch a blood moon rise or set (or both!). A blood moon is a unique phenomenon when the Earth’s moon is in total lunar eclipse. This means that the Earth is sitting in between the sun and the moon, leaving the moon in Earth’s shadow. That causes light to bounce around in a special way that makes the moon look a rusty reddish color.
Why?
Because it’s a rare, spectacularly beautiful, and awe-inspiring event.
How to?
Figure out when the next blood moon is happening (they happen roughly twice per year).
Get some friends together and go to a good spot to view it.
Sit back and enjoy the show.
Protips:
If you live near a coastline where fog occurs, you may need to go somewhere higher elevation or with clearer skies to avoid an obstructed view.
